CCC students take initiatives to build relationships with faculty from across the university who pursue research in their areas of interest. In their first year of the program, entering CCC students are assigned a CCC faculty mentor from the Steering Committee.

Instructors in the CCC required courses also help first-year students to make faculty connections, and in subsequent years faculty bonds form through elective coursework. In addition, more advanced CCC students mentor their newer peers.
