Biography

LaToya was born and raised in Vidalia, GA, home of the Sweet Vidalia Onion. They received their Bachelor's from Georgetown University where they double majored in Government and English. After teaching in Washington DC, they attended American University to obtain a Master's in Education Policy and Leadership. Upon leaving Washington DC, LaToya moved to Philadelphia and worked in a leadership capacity for college access startups in the city. LaToya is excited to be back in the South, and especially glad to call New Orleans home.

Research Interests

Their research areas include Black geographies, social innovation, the urban/rural divide, land and economic justice, and community engagement.
