Biography

Jack Bohannon is originally from Pensacola, Florida. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and a law degree from New York Law School in New York City. Upon graduation from law school, Jack became a member of both the Louisiana and Florida bar associations.

Prior to moving back to New Orleans and joining the CCC program, Jack worked as a lawyer at the Public Defender’s Office in Pensacola, Florida. During that time, he represented hundreds of indigent clients accused of crimes ranging in  severity from minor misdemeanors, to first degree felonies punishable by life in state prison. For Jack, the experience working as a criminal defense attorney was simultaneously challenging and enlightening.

Seeking to better understand the systemic inequality within the criminal justice system, Jack is developing his scholarly work from his direct professional experience working closely with clients facing incarceration. His research is focused on mass incarceration and community engagement.
