Hanora Tracy

Hanora Tracy grew up in Coxsackie, New York and went to SUNY New Paltz in the Hudson Valley. While there, Hanora studied psychology and black studies, interned at a child and adolescent mobile crisis unit, and developed her thesis on segregation of elementary and secondary schooling with an analysis of federal, state, and private spending per student. While interning at the mobile crisis unit, teaching at a daycare, and assistant coaching at non-profit rowing club, her interests grew in examining social structures created for children and adolescents.

After college, Hanora taught at a private state-funded school for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental delays. Her work with nonverbal special education populations confirmed her motivations to return to graduate school. Her current research interests are accessibility and inequality in education as it relates to race, language, and ability; ESL, bilingual, and multilingual special education students; teacher retention rates as it relates to student success.
