Biography

Blanca is a social worker and activist whose family and heritage is indigenous to the greater El Paso metro area which lies on the southern border with Juarez, Mexico and includes Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was formally educated at the New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico and holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in social work. Blanca is part of the movement towards restoration after new and historic trauma with an emphasis on healing, joy, and empowerment over and above strength and resiliency.  

Blanca is working towards the decolonization of affected communities by identifying methods of restorative activism using indigenous science. Blanca also prioritizes the support and the development of as many future indigenous leaders as possible, with the understanding that sovereignty and representation is vital.
